1. Open Access Statement
Petroleum Reservoir Evaluation and Development is an open access journal. The journal flipped to open access in 2022. Once an article is published, readers can immediately and permanently read and download it for free via the journal's official website. Furthermore, readers can freely copy, disseminate and use all articles published in the journal since 1963 under our license policy (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0).
2. Licensing Policy
The allowed third-party reuse of articles published in the journal is defined by the following license: Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0). This license allows users to copy and redistribute the articles of the journal in any medium or format, provided they adhere to the following terms:
Users must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes to the articles were made. Users may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the journal endorses the use. Users may not use the articles for commercial purposes. If users re-mix, transform, or build upon the articles, they may not distribute the modified articles. The full details of the license are available at:

3. Copyright Policy
All authors who publish articles in this journal are required to sign the Copyright Transfer Agreement (see the Download page) to transfer the copyright of their articles to the Editorial Office of Petroleum Reservoir Evaluation and Development, and the copyright will belong to the Editorial Office.
After publication, authors have the right to use their articles under the following circumstances:
(1) Authors may reproduce, disseminate, and use their articles under the CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license (e.g., non-commercial academic exchanges, presentations, lectures, etc.).
(2) Authors may use their articles for patent application.
(3) Authors may use their articles for other activities approved and authorized by the editorial office.
If the article is eventually not published by the journal, the Copyright Transfer Agreement signed by the author(s) will automatically become invalid, and the copyright will still belong to the author(s).
4. Online Accessibility & Repository
The full text of all articles since the journal's founding in 2011 can be downloaded free of charge from the official journal website. In addition to open access on the official journal website, the full-texts of the journal's articles are also stored in the databases of CNKI, Wanfang Data, and Weipu, etc. Readers can also access the above-mentioned databases and platforms to obtain the articles published by the journal.
It is allowed for authors to deposit all versions of their articles in an institutional or other repository of the authors' choice. However, it is necessary to indicate the articles' publication information in the metadata in the institutional or other repository and use that as a recommended way of citation.
