Peer-review system of the editorial department of the Petroleum Reservoir Evaluation and Development
Peer-review is an important part of publishing work in academic journals. The editorial department can ensure the quality of the journal by determining the acceptance of manuscripts based on opinions from experts in the same field. The Editorial Department of Petroleum Reservoir Evaluation and Development implements a three-round review system, including a preliminary review by executive editor, peer review by experts, and final review by the Editor-in-Chief (editorial board). The author's name, affiliation, financial support and other relevant information will be deleted before review, so the entire review process is double-blind. The details are as follows:
1. Preliminary review by executive editors
The review focuses on the overall quality of the manuscript such as topic selection and academic level. A manuscript that meets the requirements of this journal can proceed to peer-review, otherwise, it will be rejected.
2. Peer-review by experts
The manuscript will be evaluated for its innovation, academic level, and rigor. Manuscripts will be reviewed by 2 experts, and opinions will be provided for the author's reference.
3. Final review by the Editor-in-Chief (editorial board)
The Editor-in-Chief decides whether to accept the manuscript or to be revised according to the opinions from peer reviewers. Manuscripts with dispute will be submitted to the editorial board for discussion, with the final decision made based on the reviewers’ opinions.
Special Issues and Columns
The review process for special issues and columns follows the same procedure as the regular issues, including identical review and editorial processes, with the Editor-in-Chief making the final acceptance decision. The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for all content, including special issues and columns. For special issues, authoritative experts in the field may be invited to serve as guest Editor-in-Chief, whose duty is to oversee theme proposal, manuscript solicitation, peer review organization, and to address any publication issues under the Editor-in-Chief's supervision to ensure fairness in the review process.
Submissions by EBMs/Editors/Guest Editor-in-Chief
Submissions by Editorial Board Members/Editors/Guest Editor-in-Chief must adhere to the journal's review and editorial procedures, ensuring independence from the involved individuals and their research groups. They cannot participate in reviews of manuscripts with whose authors they have conflicts of interest.
